I have never had a concrete collection of hair care products before and that’s mainly due to the fact that I never explored the plethora of hair care products out there. I just stuck to the plain old Pink Lotion, Dax grease, Sulphur 8…you get the idea. So when the big cuz asked me to review some Cantu products for her, the sis and I said hells yeah! After 3 months of using the line, here is the review, I hope you enjoy! Disclaimer – This is just my opinion and so it shouldn’t be taken as gospel, just as a guide line! We’re all learning together!
The product that I enjoyed the most was the Coil Calm Detangler…My hair knots up like crazy, so for me, detangling is one of the worst and most tedious processes in the history of EVER! My sisters, this detangler has made my life so much more easier when it comes to detangling my hair.
The Twist & Lock Gel was a close second. Ladies, this thing made my curls POP. Like seriously…they were popping like daisies. Believe it or not, it moisturises my hair more than any of the other products, even the moisturisers. This product is definitely a win for me.
The Coconut Oil Shine & Hold Mist was great for refreshing my hair when I had second day twist or braid outs. It really helped to get rid of that dull look your hair can get when it’s been in a style for more than two days. It doesn’t really add moisture to my hair though, which is a bit of a bummer.
The Define & Shine Custard was good for definition and hold when it came to styling my hair in the initial stages. My hair reverts very quickly and rapidly, therefore it loses its definition when put in stretched styles, twist outs especially. So it’s hard to find products that help to tackle that problem. Unfortunately the results after using this product didn’t last long on my hair. Another bummer.
The Cleansing Cream Shampoo & Hydrating Cream Conditioner were okay. The fact that they are both Sulfate free is a big bonus and they do their job pretty well but the results aren’t overwhelming for me…SORRY CANTU!
My least favourite products were the Curl Activator Cream, The Coconut Curling Cream and Creamy Hair Lotion. Although they claim to add moisture to dry and damaged hair (my hair is SO DRY and coarse) it didn’t at all which is a disappointing. In order to get the results that I want, I have to use these products in conjunction with Glycerin and that doesn’t help my problem with reversion. Once again…SORRY CANTU!
All in all, the Cantu Shea Butter Natural Hair line is okay, it has its stand outs and it’s duds. Maybe it works on differently on other textures better than mine. Try it out and let me know how you get on!
