I decided to try out my twist sponge on Miss E’s hair. For those not in the know a twist sponge is a regular old sponge, which has circular grooves in it. Barbers use it on short afros to get quick and defined twists. The sponge doesn’t work very well on my hair but I thought it would be interesting to see what it did for Miss E.

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
First I dampened her hair with water using a spray bottle. Then I moisturised and sealed with Root2Tip Hair Milk and Hair Butter. I then applied a very small amount of Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie to her hair. I re-wet with a little more water then used the sponge in small clockwise circular motions on her head. I did it section by section and made sure the motion was always clockwise. If you change direction, you will unravel the twists.
The resulting twists were not very defined, in that respect her hair texture is similar to mine and they didn’t last very long. Next time I’ll try using a holding product like a gel to see if that helps.
