I have a secret yen to have lighter hair. Not super ditzy Barbie blonde but more of a light sun kissed brown. However, hair dye and healthy hair care do not make great bed fellows. Sure it’s possible to lighten your hair and keep it relatively healthy but it’s also a crap load of work; something I don’t really have the time for right now. Then it occurred to me that my weave installation might be a great opportunity to experiment with colour without damaging my own hair.

The ombre colour technique is basically a graduation of colour from dark to light or vice versa. It was a massive hair trend late last year.

Drew Barrymore

Hilary Duff

Jennifer Biel

Lily Aldridge

Raven Symone

The great thing about this technique is that it doesn’t require me to colour my own hair to get a blend with the extension hair. I can simply lighten the ends of the extension hair with peroxide prior to installation. There are a few youtube videos showing how to DIY the technique and also how to dye remy hair extensions.

I am totally crushing on Camila Alves, Julia Roberts and Mila Kunis’ Ombre hair and if I were to do it, this is what I would be aiming for.

So what do you guys think, Should I ombre or not?
